Portagauge Logger State-of-the-art Thickness Gauging Measurements Recorded at the Touch of a Button

PORTAGAUGE DATALOGGER - NATO Stock No. 5220-99- 4 77 -6 6 52 - from Wylam Hill Ltd is designed to simplify recording thickness measurements. The unit can store 2500 readings at a time, each of which is automatically allocated a serial number. The serial numbered memory is ideal for integration with ships' surveying operations and maintenance programmes. The unit is divided into two sections: the upper section controls and displays the thickness measurements, the lower section controls and displays the logging feature. The simple and quick operation of the unit requires little or no training.

OPERATION - The advanced ultrasonics and memory are controlled by state-of-the- art microprocessor technology for stability of readings and ease of use. The upper section of the unit can be used with or without the lower datalogging section. The upper section is controlled by 5 control keys: on/off, inch/mm, 11 pre-programmed material select functions and calibration.

To take thickness measurements, the upper section is switched on and the required mode and material programme selected. The thickness is displayed on the larger upper section LCD. Automatic recalibration is quick and simple, requiring only that the sensor is placed on the test piece supplied and calibration button pressed.

DATALOGGING - The lower section is used to log the reading. The measurement is taken as normal and "ENTER" button pressed. The reading is recorded against the serial number indicated on the lower LCD display. The unit will auto on to the next serial number and is ready to record another reading. Browsing through the memory to check readings or to choose start points is controlled by only four other buttons.

Erasing and printing the memory are simple, controlled by one switch each and the "ENTER" button. The unit memory can be printed out via a standard computer type nine pin "D" connector. Wylam Hill can supply a miniature state-of-the-art thermal printer for immediate quality memory print outs; via the same RS 232 connector the reading can be downloaded to a PC. Once the information is on the PC it can be easily manipulated.

The unique serial number system eases operation by allocating areas of the memory to specific tasks on vessels and industrial construction. The serial numbers can also be allocated with predetermined survey for pipework and pressure vessels.

Wylam Hill manufactures a family range of thickness gages including: PORTAGAUGE, the low cost high performance thickness gauge with the same features as Portagauge Datalogger without the memory and PORTAPAINT, a dedicated paint thickness gauge for all ferrous type materials, range 10 microns - 8mm resolution + /-10 MU.
