Seatrium Energy initiates arbitration against Maersk Offshore

This followed Maersk Offshore’s announcement to leave its contract amidst Seatrium’s delivery of vessel for Empire Wind 1.

Seatrium Energy International Pte. Ltd. (SEI) issued a notice of arbitration to Maersk Offshore Wind LLC for its wrongful termination of the contract for the Empire Wind 1 US offshore wind project.

This is after Maersk terminated the contract with SEI for the delivery of the offshore vessel on 9 October 2025, SEI said in a bourse filing, assuring that the vessel will be delivered to Maersk by 30 January 2026.

SEI issued the arbitration and sought legal advice as the buying firm intended to abandon the contract, it added.

Seatrium is seeking that the buyer wrongfully terminated the valid contract, and it will pay 80% of the contract price upon the delivery of the vessel.

SEI will make further announcements when there are developments in the case, it added in the filing.
