Singmarine Delivers LPG Carrier Ahead of Schedule
Singmarine Industries Limited (Singmarine) delivered a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier to its owner, Thai Oil Company Limited (Thai Oil Company) two and a half months ahead of schedule.
This is the fifth vessel that Singmarine's wholly-owned subsidiary, Singmarine Dockyard & Engineering Pte Ltd (Singmarine Dockyard), has built for the same owner.
The vessel was named "THAIOIL 5" by Khunying Chatchani Chatikavanij, wife of Khun Kasame Chatikavanij, Chairman & Managing Director of Thai Oil Company at Singmarine Dockyard's Main Yard at Gul Road in Tuas on 29 April 1995.
"The early delivery of THAIOIL 5 demonstrates Singmarine Dockyard's commitment to our customers and our capability to build specialised vessels," said Mr Loh Wing Siew, Chairman of Singmarine.

"THAIOIL 1,2, 3 & 4 are operating well. They are excellent examples of Singmarine Dockyard's reliability and commitment to quality workmanship. I am confident that THAIOIL 5 will do likewise." said Khun Kasame Chatikavanij.
THAIOIL 5 is propelled by two units of 600 Bhp non-reversible four-stroke diesel engines rotating at 900 rpm each and is able to run at a service speed of 10 knots. Measuring 69 metres, the vessel has two cargo tanks each capable of carrying up to 650 cubic metres of liquefied gas. THAIOIL 5 conforms to strict requirements of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) with a notation of A1 Circle E Liquefied Gas carrier + AMS, and the Thailand Statutory Authority.
Designed to suit shore facilities, THAIOIL 5 will operate mainly in the Thai Coastal waters between Bangkok and Thaioil refinery in Cholburi Province.
Singmarine Dockyard is presently busy with the construction of a 6,500 dwt product tanker for Petroships, a containership for Steamers Containerships Holdings Pte Ltd and two harbour tugs for Keppel Smit Towage Pte Ltd.
