SIT and Seatrium open Punggol lab to train 1,700 in marine AI
Research at the lab will focus on energy efficiency and AI-enabled remote analytics.
The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and Seatrium have launched the Offshore & Marine Digital Learning Lab at SIT Punggol Campus.
Over the next three years, it is expected to support over 700 undergraduates through applied learning modules and train more than 1,000 continuing education and training (CET) learners.
The lab is designed to drive the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), digital twin technologies, and smart microgrid systems for offshore and marine operations.
Its research efforts will focus on energy efficiency optimisation, AI-enabled analytics for remote operations, and scenario-based digital twin simulators to support planning and offshore and marine operations.
The facility integrates pre-employment training, CET, and an applied research model.
The lab’s launch builds on a 2024 memorandum of understanding, supported by cash investments from Seatrium.
