Transnet, ICTSI form 25-year JV to operate and develop Port of Durban terminal

The integration will start in January 2026.

Transnet SOC Ltd (Transnet) entered into a 25-year joint venture with International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) to operate and develop its flagship Durban Container Terminal Pier 2 (DCT2) at the Port of Durban.

The flagship is Transnet’s biggest container terminal, where it handles approximately 70% of the Port of Durban’s throughput and 46% of South Africa’s port traffic. The terminal has 1,760 metres of operational quay length and 120 hectares of container storage and backup area.
