U-Ming enters LNG shipping market with DIAMOND GAS JADE 174,000 m³ carrier
Vessel features dual-fuel propulsion and energy-saving environmental technology.
The 174,000 m³ LNG carrier DIAMOND GAS JADE was officially named at Samsung Heavy Industries’ Geoje Shipyard during a ceremony held on May 19.
The vessel, invested by a joint venture under U-Ming Marine Transport Corp. and built by Samsung Heavy Industries, features energy-saving technology and a dual-fuel propulsion system. It will enter long-term LNG transportation service upon delivery, supporting global energy logistics.
U-Ming said the project reflects its shift toward green shipping and net-zero operations, marking its entry into the LNG carrier market and strengthening its role in energy transport.
The company also approved newbuilding plans for four 210,000 DWT Capesize and four 64,000 DWT Ultramax bulk carriers. This supports its goal of exceeding 100 vessels and 10 million DWT in fleet capacity.
U-Ming currently operates 84 vessels across bulk carriers, tankers, and green energy ships, with operations based in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Xiamen.
