Vard holds steel cutting for Dong Fang Offshore’s latest vessel

This will be delivered in 2027.

Norway-based shipbuilder Vard has conducted steel cutting for an offshore subsea construction vessel (OSCV) it is building for Dong Fang Offshore.

“Steel cutting of NB 988 at Vard Shipyards Romania – Brăila marks the start of a new chapter with Dong Fang Offshore,” Vard said.

The OSCV of the VARD 3 39 design is the first of its kind built in Brăila and also the first newbuild OSCV for DFO. It measures 121.3 metres (m) in length and 23 m in width, allowing it to accommodate up to 130 personnel.

The hull will be constructed in Brăila, with final outfitting, commissioning, and delivery at Vard Søviknes, Norway, scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.
