W H Brennan Launched New Fire Fighting System at National Maritime Academy

W H BRENNAN & Co Pte Ltd has launched a new revolutionary state-of-the-art foam fire fighting system at the National Maritime Academy, Sembawang Camp on 15th September 1955.

The foam fire fighting system MAVERICK FOAM VEST SYSTEM provides unparalleled fire power in portable foam fire fighting. Designed to be worn as a vest, the MAVERICK contains up to 19 litres of foam concentrate in the vest, and with the specially designed nozzle, any line is transformed into a foam line.

A twist of the turn operating knob lets the nozzleman switch from water, to foam, whenever conditions warrant. Since the foam system is located at the nozzle, foam delivery is instantaneous. Pro portioning is built into the vest, eliminating any long delays caused by filling a hose lay with foam solution. With 3% foam concentrate, the MAVERICK can provide 2 minutes of foam delivery at 95 GPM (360 Ipm). Flexibility and mobility of the hose line is maximised. There are no limitations on the length of the hose lay or nozzle elevation, as in the case when using an inline eductor.

It provides instant foam operated by one person to fight flammable and combustible liquid fire. No longer is there a need to wait for the fire engines which may have difficulties to gain access to the site, or a two-men operation in dragging along a foam bucket or trolley. During the demonstration, a Pyrocool foam product was used to extinguish the fire. Pyrocool products extinguished all types of fires faster, cleaner and safer than was possible.

The Pyrocool products reduce fire site temperatures almost instantly, the surrounding fire site surfaces could be comfortably touched with a bare hand within seconds. The workshop located in Loyang Industrial Estate is well-equipped with up-to-date test equipment facilities and is approved by the United States' Department of Transportation (USA/DOT) Authorised Retest Facility for all hydrostatic retesting of approved cylinders, making them the only DOT-approved independent facility in the Far East.

The workshop facilities were also approved as USA/FAA Approved Repair Station and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore Approved Repair Station and was awarded the Singapore Institute of Standard and Industrial Research laboratory accreditation scheme in the field of Mechanical testing. The pressure vessel testing facility has the ability to hydrostatically test compressed gas cylinders of 24-inch diameter by 70-inch in length and up to 10,500PSI test pressure and can strip, paint and recharge cylinder of various sizes with oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, halon and other specialised gases.
