Yang Ming profit plunges 82% on freight rate slump, geopolitical strains

The company’s revenue also dropped by 15% YoY to US$1.22b.

Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. net profit after tax for the first quarter of the year stood at US$50m (NT$1.44b), an 81.5% year-on-year drop, according to its press release.

The company’s revenue also dropped by 15% YoY to US$1.22b (NT$38.66b) due to the slightly downward trend of freight rates alongside ship deployment caused by the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.

Earnings per share fell in tandem, from US$0.068 (NT$2.23) in Q1 2025 to U$0.013 (NT$0.41) in Q1 2026.
