HD Hyundai bags approval for 500 MW offshore substation
This will boost South Korea’s offshore wind industry.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has received international verification for its 500 megawatt (MW) offshore substation.
According to the company, it received Verification Letter from DNV, showing that the design and technical documents of its substation meet international standards.
The substation secured competitiveness in the equipment supply chain by localising key components. It also features a standard design suitable for large-scale offshore wind projects and is capable of transmitting power from thirty-five 14 MW wind turbines.
“This milestone is expected to boost Korea’s offshore wind industry, aligning with the government’s Renewable Energy 3020 policy and plans for large-scale wind power clusters,” HHI said.
