Becker Marine Systems Establishing itself as a Competent Partner on the Chinese Market With Offices in Shanghai, Nanjing and Zhenjiang
In China, Becker Marine Systems has been a highly regarded and dependable partner in the maritime industry for many years. The Hamburg-based company is represented at three different locations in China, handling manufacturing, sales, and aftersales service.
Becker Marine Systems will present its innovative products at Marintec China 2015, taking place from 1st to 4th December. The company has maintained an office in Shanghai since 2003, where 12 employees manage sales and support for Becker products. The office in Nanjing, opened nearly simultaneously, houses four employees working in manoeuvring technology. Additionally, there is a manufacturing agreement with Luzhou, a CSSC group company.
In Zhenjiang, Becker Marine Systems has had in-house manufacturing operations for the past two years, employing nearly 80 staff who handle design, quality management, and manufacturing. "The trend towards an increased local presence in China is something we recognised early on, and we are now reaping the fruits of our many years there. China has long since lost its status as an export-only market and should be treated as an equal partner," said Henning Kuhlmann, the Managing Director of Becker Marine Systems. Kuhlmann has over 25 years of experience with Chinese business culture and has lived in Asia for seven years.
Becker Marine Systems has close cooperation with shipyard companies in both northern and southern China, including Dalian Shipyard and Industrial Cooperation (DSIC), Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, and Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The company’s products are primarily needed for large container ships, tankers, and bulk carriers.
"We aim to expand our market share in China in the coming years, relying on detailed market knowledge and dependable China-based after-sales services such as installation supervision. With us, customer service doesn't end when the contract is signed," said Kuhlmann. To support this goal, Becker Marine Systems plans to expand its in-house production and increase its staff by approximately 20 percent.
At Marintec China 2015, Becker Marine Systems will showcase its high-performance rudders and energy-saving devices, including the Becker Mewis DuctⓇ and Becker Mewis Duct TwistedⓇ. This major shipbuilding conference and exhibition in Asia will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, with Becker Marine Systems presenting at booth number N2F31-02, Hall N2. Two years ago, Marintec attracted approximately 58,000 visitors and 1,700 exhibitors from over 30 countries.
