DP World opens first warehouse in Singapore
The site is 20 minutes away from Jurong Port.
Dubai-based Logistics company DP World Ltd. has opened its first warehouse in Singapore after unveiling similar facilities in South Korea and Hong Kong, as part of a push to expand its footprint in the Asia-Pacific market and fuel regional growth.
“This new warehouse strengthens our ability to support customers’ regional distribution strategies and efforts to enhance supply chain agility and resilience in today’s dynamic trade environment,” Glen Hilton, CEO and managing director for Asia-Pacific at DP World, told Marine & Industrial Report.
“In doing so, we are also advancing our long-term goal of being the logistics partner of choice across the Asia-Pacific region,” he added.
The company is exploring other opportunities—whether through new sites, partnerships, or service offerings—and would continue to make strategic investments in key markets to strengthen its capabilities in the region, it said in a separate statement.
The multipurpose-built Singapore warehouse can be retrofitted to suit the requirements of cargo businesses depending on the type of goods they are tasked to manage, Hilton said in an emailed reply to questions.
The 13,000-square-metre warehouse at the Mapletree Benoi Logistics Hub is just 20 minutes away from Jurong Port and 30 minutes from PSA Pasir Panjang Terminal.
Through the warehouse, occupiers can access scalable storage, duty deferment advantages, and Customs-compliant warehousing. These are integrated in DP World’s end-to-end offering that includes freight forwarding, contract logistics, and port services.
Hilton said Singapore was a natural choice given its strong links to both Eastern and Western markets, world-class infrastructure, and a strong regulatory environment conducive to businesses looking to boost their international footprint.
Singapore’s logistics market is expected to grow 5.2% annually from 2025 to 2034 to $55.87b, according to US-based MarketResearch.com.
Hilton said the Singapore warehouse is key to DP World’s plan to expand its network in the Asia-Pacific region. The company has more than two-dozen ports and terminals and over 60 logistics branch offices across the region.
DP World employs more than 10,000 people in the Asia-Pacific region, or almost 10% of its global workforce.
