MPA drives digital integration forward with OCEANS-X maritime data systems
Operators link internal tools directly into port clearance infrastructure.
Singapore launched OCEANS-X, a data and application programming interface (API) exchange platform developed by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
During the Singapore Maritime Week 2026, Jeffrey Siow, Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance said the platform enables system-to-system connectivity across the maritime sector and allows maritime companies and government agencies to exchange data. It is accessible online, according to a press release.
One of the first services on OCEANS-X is digital port clearance. Ship masters and agents currently submit port clearance documents through digitalPORT@SG.
Under OCEANS-X, shipping companies and agents can connect in-house or third-party systems to transmit data for port clearance applications to MPA digital platforms.
OCEANS-X also enables electronic exchange of ship certificates between Singapore and partner ports, including those under Green and Digital Shipping Corridors. Port authorities can verify certificates through shared data.
The platform hosts more than 100 APIs and datasets and will support additional digital services over time, the press release said.
Industry players and start-ups can develop and deploy services on the platform, including analytics and artificial intelligence tools, whilst academic users and the public can access selected maritime datasets for research and development.
