127m Korea floating wind vessel to get Kongsberg deck systems
Delivery is scheduled for July 2027.
Kongsberg Maritime has secured a contract to deliver a full deck machinery package for a 127-metre Floating Wind Construction Vessel (FWCV) being built for Hana Shipping of Korea. Delivery is scheduled for July 2027.
The vessel, designed by Focal, will operate at the Ulsan Floating Wind Farm, 70 km off the coast of Ulsan, Korea, performing mooring, cable laying, and other construction tasks for floating wind projects.
Kongsberg Maritime will supply a 500-tonne main towing/AHT winch with three drums, secondary winches, rope tensioners, tugger winches, an active heave-compensated working winch, and a Towcon X8 control system.
All winches feature Kongsberg’s low-pressure hydraulic motors, with mechanical components supplied by long-term partner IP Huse.
The contract also introduces two new systems: the AH100 rail cranes, with extended reach, dual lifting arms, and interchangeable tooling; and the Shark Jaw system, capable of handling chain sizes up to 220mm with remotely adjustable inserts for safer, more flexible operations.
