Certification allows authorities to issue the DASR.

ClassNK has certified Salam’s International as Pakistan’s first facility to meet the Hong Kong International Convention for Ship Recycling standards.

Following this certification, Pakistan’s competent authority is expected to issue the Document of Authorization to conduct Ship Recycling (DASR), as required under the Convention.

Pakistan formally acceded to the Hong Kong Convention in November 2023, prompting local ship recycling facilities to work toward compliance.

Since 2012, ClassNK has certified roughly 80 ship recycling facilities, primarily in India and Bangladesh, promoting safe and environmentally sound ship recycling.

The addition of a ClassNK-certified facility in Pakistan strengthens the global network of Convention-compliant recycling sites and supports higher safety and environmental standards in the region.
