HD Hyundai secures AiP for 35,000-cubic-metre gas carrier

Vessel was designed to meet regulations at major terminals including those in Japan.

South Korea’s HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has received an Approval in Principle (AiP) from Japan’s ClassNK for its 35,000-cubic-metre liquefied petroleum gas/ammonia carrier.

HD HHI developed the vessel in consideration of compliance with various regulations at major terminals including those in Japan.

ClassNK conducted an examination based on ClassNK’s “Rule Part N, Rules and Guidance for the Survey and Construction of Steel Ships”.

This incorporates the IGC Code, an international code for the construction and equipment of ships carrying liquefied gases in bulk.

The AiP certificate was handed over at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
