OMS Group commences construction of new cable-laying vessel

This will be delivered in two years.

OMS Group has conducted the steel cutting ceremony of its latest cable-laying vessel CS Genesis at Pacific Shipbuilding JSC in Vietnam.

In a statement, the company said this marks the start of construction for its first new-build vessel under its strategic fleet expansion programme.

“Developed in partnership with Royal IHC, CS Genesis is the first in our G (GREAT) Class fleet, representing our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence. Equipped with cutting-edge automation, hybrid energy systems, and enhanced efficiency, this vessel is purpose-built to meet the world’s growing demand for connectivity,” OMS Group said

The keel laying for CS Genesis is scheduled for December 2025, with delivery expected in early 2027.
