OMS starts building third GREAT‑Class cable layer in Poland
CS Resilience will enter service in 2028 under the company's fleet expansion plan.
Malaysia-based OMS Group has started construction of CS Resilience, the third vessel in its next-generation GREAT-Class fleet, following a first steel-cutting ceremony at CRIST S.A. shipyard in Gdynia, Poland.
The steel cutting marks the start of construction as the company expands its fleet to meet growing global demand for resilient digital infrastructure. The vessel is scheduled to enter service in 2028.
CS Resilience is one of two next-generation cable-laying vessels being built under OMS Group's partnership with ULSTEIN, which the company announced in January 2026.
Together with CS Genesis and CS Triumph, CS Resilience forms part of OMS Group's GREAT-Class fleet programme.
Datuk Lim Soon Foo, Founder and Chairman of OMS Group, said the steel cutting marked "another significant milestone" in the company's long-term fleet expansion.
“ULSTEIN's strong track record in advanced vessel design, combined with its collaborative approach and deep understanding of complex offshore operations, gives us confidence that together we are building vessels that will serve the evolving needs of the global submarine telecommunications industry for decades to come,” he said.
CS Resilience will feature the ULSTEIN X-BOW design and ULSTEIN POWER Variable Speed Generator technology.
OMS Group said the vessel is designed to improve seakeeping performance, enhance fuel efficiency, and reduce emissions, whilst supporting cable installation operations.
Ronnie Lim, Group CEO of OMS Group, said the vessel combines ULSTEIN's design and technologies to support cable installation.
"The ULSTEIN X-BOW significantly enhances seakeeping and operational stability, enabling safer and more efficient operations in challenging sea conditions, whilst the ULSTEIN POWER Variable Speed Generator technology optimises energy consumption and reduces emissions," he said.
OMS Group said construction at CRIST S.A. marks the transition from the design phase to production under the collaboration between the company, ULSTEIN, and the Polish shipyard.
The GREAT-Class programme comprises CS Genesis, CS Triumph, CS Resilience, and CS Alliance, representing OMS Group's largest fleet investment to date.
