PIL completes cargo and LNG bunkering for Kota Ocean
This reinforces Singapore’s role as Asia’s bunkering hub.
Pacific International Lines (PTE) Ltd (PIL) has completed its first simultaneous cargo and liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operations (SIMOPS) in Singapore with its 8,200 twenty-foot equivalent unit Kota Ocean.
According to PIL, the SIMOPS was conducted at PSA’s Brani Terminal. The simultaneous operations allowed the company to save time. The company noted that bunkering of 4000cbm alone is estimated to take about 15 hours.
TotalEnergies proposed the LNG bunker.
“This milestone reinforces Singapore’s role as a leading LNG bunkering hub in Asia and highlights the benefits of LNG as a marine fuel,” PIL said.
Kota Ocean is PIL’s sixth alternative-fuel vessel, with 12 more coming over the next three years. These vessels will use LNG as a transition fuel.
