Seatrium inks letter of intent for carbon capture and storage
This reinforces the company’s efforts for a sustainable maritime industry.
Seatrium Limited has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Solvang ASA, Norway for the installation and retrofitting of full-scale Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) systems.
In a statement, Seatrium said the deal was formalised in Nor-Shipping 2025 in Oslo, reinforcing the companies’ shared commitment to sustainable maritime solutions. It also supports Solvang ASA in their fleet decarbonisation following the successful delivery of Clipper Eris in February 2025 – the world’s first full-scale turnkey retrofit of a 7MW CCS system.
The new series of Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs), configured specifically for CCS, is set to be the first potential candidate for a full-scale CCS retrofit and integration. The project is set to commence in late 2026.
“Seatrium has built a strong track record in providing green technologies for the maritime industry. Since 2015, we have delivered over 584 sustainability-linked solutions, including low carbon, energy saving retrofits and environmental regulatory works,” Seatrium said.
“With a focus on maritime decarbonisation, Seatrium is wellpositioned to provide its customers with a range of low carbon and cleaner energy solutions to support a sustainable future,” it added.
