Singapore and India ink green and digital shipping deal
The countries will work with industry players to establish a shipping corridor.
Singapore and India have signed a partnership to support the digitalisation and decarbonisation of the maritime sector.
Under the memorandum of understanding, a Singapore-India Green and Digital Shipping Corridor will be established.
“India’s renewable energy capacity and industrial base support the production and export of alternative marine fuels, whilst Singapore is a major hub port with established bunkering operations and a growing ecosystem for maritime innovation,” the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said.
Both countries will work with industry partners to develop infrastructure and technologies that support the maritime sector’s transition to zero or near-zero greenhouse gas emission fuels. This also covers digital information exchange and joint research into emerging green technologies and solutions.
