Singapore commits $3m for maritime technical cooperation and training
This is in addition to the $2m it earlier committed.
Singapore has committed $3m to enhance technical cooperation and training with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and its Member States for 2026-2028.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), this is the second tranche and an addition to the initial $2m committed for 2024-2025.
“This renewed commitment builds on our partnership of over 25 years with the IMO, dating back to 1998 when Singapore became the first country to sign an MoU for the Third Country Training Programme,” MPA said.
The funding will support programmes on preparing seafarers for the future with training on alternative fuels, enhancing maritime digitalisation capabilities, strengthening marine casualty investigation skills, and building capacity across the international maritime community.
