Yangzijiang Maritime bolsters fleet with 10 new vessels
Its orderbook spans tankers and bulk carriers with deliveries stretching to 2029.
Yangzijiang Maritime Development has signed contracts for 10 newbuild vessels to be constructed at independent third-party Chinese shipyards, with deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2029.
The company said in a press release that the order comprises four product/crude tankers of about 114,000 deadweight tonnes (DWT), four product oil/chemical tankers of about 49,800 DWT, and two bulk carriers of about 40,000 DWT.
With the tankers’ delivery scheduled through 2027 to 2029 and bulk carriers in 2028, the group’s overall fleet will expand to 105 vessels, including 53 newbuildings currently under construction.
The newbuilds will be funded through a mix of equity co-investment and debt financing, the company said.
The 49,800 DWT product oil/chemical tankers will be methanol-fuel ready and comply with Energy Efficiency Design Index Phase 3 requirements.
All vessels will also be built to International Association of Classification Societies standards and include eco-notation features.
Ren Yuanlin, Executive Chairman and CEO of Yangzijiang Maritime, said the contracts reflect the group’s fleet investment strategy and use of established shipyards at competitive pricing.
He added that the vessels support a more modern and efficient fleet aligned with environmental regulations, and said the group will evaluate leasing and chartering options under its capital-cycling model.
