Mitsui O.S.K. Lines joins CIP’s Fengmiao I offshore wind project
Its investment will be around $171.44m.
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) is acquiring a 10% stake in Fengmiao 1 offshore wind farm, a renewable energy project in Taiwan primarily owned and developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
In a statement, MOL said its investment in the project is expected to total around $171.44m (JPY 25b).
Fengmiao 1 has a generating capacity of 495 megawatts, which is equivalent to the electricity used by about 650,000 households in Taiwan.
The construction of the offshore wind farm began with the final investment decision in March 2025, and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
“MOL plans to dispatch personnel from the construction phase of this project. Through this deployment, MOL aims to deepen our understanding of the offshore wind power business,” the Japanese shipping company said.
MOL said it will also provide vessels to support the construction and maintenance of the project.
This development marks MOL’s second investment in offshore wind in Taiwan following the Formosa I Offshore Wind Farm.
“Through our involvement in this project, we aim to further expand the renewable energy business and contribute to building a decarbonised society,” it said.
