PTT and RINA partner on energy transition and maritime technologies
Companies will explore data centres, SMRs, and cold energy use.
RINA has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Thailand’s PTT Public Company Limited through the PTT Innovation Institute (PTT InI) to explore research and technical cooperation in the energy, industrial, and maritime sectors.
The MoUs cover alternative and low-carbon fuels, Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), vessel electrification, digitalisation, carbon management, hydrogen readiness, and cold energy utilisation.
The companies will also explore potential applications in data centres and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), as well as learning and training initiatives for the maritime and industrial sectors.
RINA Consulting will provide engineering consultancy expertise, whilst RINA Services will support certification, verification, assurance and classification activities under internationally recognised principles for competence, impartiality, and conflict-of-interest management.
“Through our engineering and advisory expertise, we aim to support innovation, technology development and the assessment of emerging solutions across the energy, industrial and maritime sectors,” Saverio Scopelliti, commercial executive Vice President at RINA Consulting, said.
“The energy transition requires robust and trusted frameworks for certification, verification and assurance,” Pino Spadafora, marine market development vice president at RINA Services, said. “We look forward to sharing our experience in these areas and to supporting industry stakeholders through independent third-party services, delivered in accordance with internationally recognised principles of competence, impartiality and integrity.”
