First Algerian 17m-aluminium Catamaran for Fish Farming
ECOREP-PIRIOU has signed an order for a catamaran dedicated to the exploitation of the fish farm of EURL ZIZOU located in Chlef, Algeria. This unit is scheduled for delivery in June 2017 in Ténès.
As the first aluminium catamaran entirely built in Algeria, this vessel measures 17 meters in length and 6.2 meters in breadth. It will be equipped with two 280 CV engines and a 1.3 m at 15 m capacity crane. With a large 75 m² deck area, the catamaran can also carry a maximum deck load of 25 tons.
ECOREP-PIRIOU will also deliver a 10-meter fiberglass support vessel designed for flexible daily exploitation. It will feature a platform for divers to operate fish larvae and facilities surveillance, as well as a hydraulic outlet to connect the food supply system.
In response to the challenges and strong growth of aquaculture in Algeria, ECOREP-PIRIOU has simultaneously developed a complete range of 14 to 17-meter catamarans as well as two 7.5 to 10-meter support vessels. The shipyard can also perform servicing and maintenance at its Bouharoun site.
The ECOREP-PIRIOU joint venture is already a leader in Algeria for fish boat building and repair. This first aluminium unit illustrates the opportunities and targets for development set for the joint venture: to become a naval shipyard dedicated to the building of steel, aluminium, and composite vessels up to 550 tons, along with associated services.
