Otto Marine & Norshore Celebrates the Completion of 'Norshore Atlantic"
On 28th February, Otto Marine Limited (Otto Marine) and Norshore Holdings AS celebrated the completion and naming ceremony of a multi-purpose drilling vessel at PT Batamec Shipyard, a shipbuilding arm of Otto Marine, in Batam, Indonesia.
Mrs. Hanne Nordahl-Pedersen, the Lady Sponsor, named the 6800dwt vessel "Norshore Atlantic". The vessel is of MT6022XL design and is built according to NMA Mobile offshore unit regulations and classed in DNVGL.
"Norshore Atlantic" is an efficient and environmentally friendly multi-purpose drilling vessel. The vessel can operate in shallow- and mid-water segments, drilling complete wells and performing complete subsea decommissioning (P&A). Equipped with DP3 technology, the vessel is also designed for performing pre-drilling of top hole sections in deep water and well intervention operations with workover riser.
Mr. Petter Tomren, CEO of Norshore Holdings, said, "The drillship Atlantic, in my opinion, is the most advanced vessel ever built in Indonesia, and taking its compactness into consideration, the complexity is absolutely comparable to anything built in Singapore, Korea, or China. The vessel also marked a significant milestone in Otto Marine's history, as this is the first of its kind built in Asia. Mr. Garrick Stanley, Group CEO of Otto Marine, said, "The construction of the drilling vessel had been challenging and rewarding for Otto Marine. By all yardsticks, the Norshore Atlantic was a very complicated and difficult project. It is a highly sophisticated vessel and significantly different from other offshore support vessels that our yard has built before."
