Piriou registers from ACAV the order for a 21M gillnetter/longliner

ACAV - Armement Coopératif Artisanal Vendéen - from the French west coast, has renewed its trust towards PIRIOU in ordering a new vessel for its artisanal fleet: a 21 m gillnetter/longliner to be mainly operated in the Bay of Biscay and alternatively in the Channel.

Following the CAYOLA and MABON 3 trawlers delivered by PIRIOU in 2013 and 2014, ACAV - Armement Coopératif Artisanal Vendéen - will be associated with Mr. Adrien DELAVAUD for this new unit that will have its homeport in Port Joinville - Yeu island. Its delivery is scheduled by the end of 2022.

This new project is the fruit of a close collaboration between ACAV and PIRIOU INGENIERIE. A special attention will be given to crew comfort and safety as well as accessibility, manoeuvrability, and the integration of the systems and equipment for easier maintenance. This gillnetter will be equipped with an IMO TIER III engine enabling reduction of the vessel’s environmental footprint.

Until now, PIRIOU has built over 250 fishing vessels from 14 to 90 m including 168 trawlers, about forty longliners, about thirty tuna vessels as well as gillnetters and shrimpers.

Vincent FAUJOUR, PIRIOU CEO, declares:

“This new order confirms our position on the market of artisanal fishing as this activity represents the DNA of our group. We are competitive on this type of vessel and take part in the renewal of the fleet on this sector. PIRIOU has already built eleven vessels — trawlers or gillnetters — for the Vendee shipowner and we are very proud to be involved again in the development of the fleet of this long-time customer.”

Emmanuel HUBE, ACAV CEO, specifies:

“ACAV carries on with the diversification of its fishing fleet started in 1967 in positioning on trawler fishing or fishing with static gear. ACAV thus focuses on artisanal, sustainable and controlled exploitation of the resources and this target is also shared by the shipowner’s crew and the PIRIOU group.”
