K-Line launches new liquefied CO2 carrier
This is the second of three vessels with the same design.
Japan’s Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (K-Line) has conducted the naming ceremony for a new liquefied CO2 carrier for Northern Lights JV DA in Oslo, Norway.
In a statement, K-Line said Northern Pathfinder is the second of three vessels with the same design for which the company has been awarded for their ship management.
The vessel will be deployed in the world’s first full-scale carbon capture and storage value chain project, transporting liquefied CO2 from recovery facilities in Norway to a receiving station in Øygarden in western Norway.
K-Line’s London-based subsidiary K Line Energy Shipping (UK) Limited will manage Northern Pathfinder. This summer, this vessel will begin transporting liquefied CO2, operating alongside the Northern Pioneer, the inaugural ship of this project.
