Shenzhen, Port of Los Angeles sign MOU on green shipping, supply chain cooperation
Partnership includes research and demonstration projects.
Shenzhen Port Group, Yantian International Container Terminals and the Port of Los Angeles have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation on sustainable trade, maritime innovation and global supply chain development.
Signed during the Shenzhen Port Global Supply Chain High-Quality Development Conference, the agreement establishes a sister port relationship between Shenzhen and the Port of Los Angeles.
Under the MOU, the parties will collaborate on green technologies, clean energy, port operations, maritime innovation, logistics and supply chain development.
The agreement also promotes technical exchanges, research and demonstration projects, business development, workforce engagement and the sharing of best practices to support more sustainable and efficient port operations.
The partnership also lays the groundwork for future cooperation in green port technologies, maritime logistics, supply chain optimisation, trade facilitation and workforce development.
Port of Los Angeles officials also joined international port leaders in launching the Shenzhen Port International Green Shipping Corridor Cooperation Initiative during the conference.
The initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through cleaner marine fuels, new technologies, operational improvements and international cooperation.
The agreement expands the Port of Los Angeles' international partnerships. The port has also established Green Shipping Corridor partnerships with Shanghai, Singapore, Guangzhou, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya and partners in Vietnam.
