PaxOcean advances fleet renewal programme with new PAC LEO vessel
The vessel features next-gen design, flexible cargo capabilities.
PaxOcean Zhoushan Shipyard in China has named Hull H1053, PAC LEO, the second 40,000-deadweight-tonne multi-purpose vessel built for Pacific Carriers Limited (PCL), according to a press release.
The vessel follows PAC LIBRA (Hull H1052)—the first ship in the series—and forms part of PCL’s fleet renewal programme.
PAC LEO is built on the same next-generation design as PAC LIBRA and supports a range of cargo profiles, including project, breakbulk, and dry bulk trades.
It features heavy-lift cranes, wide open deck arrangements, and a hydraulic tween-deck system designed to improve cargo handling and onboard safety, the press release said.
The vessel incorporates energy-saving technologies and is delivered with ESS-ready and LNG-ready configurations, allowing flexibility for future energy transition pathways.
Tan Thai Yong, PaxOcean Group CEO, said the vessel reflects the company’s engineering and construction capabilities and its ability to deliver vessels according to owner specifications.
Hor Weng Yew, PCL CEO, said PAC LEO advances the company’s fleet renewal programme and provides operational flexibility and efficiency for its cargo requirements.
