Posh secures two towage and positioning contracts for Petronas PFLNG DUA Project

Offshore marine services provider, the PACC Offshore Services Holdings Ltd. ("POSH" Group), has commenced support for the Petronas Floating Liquefied Natural Gas 2 (PFLNG Dua) after securing two towage and positioning contracts that involve the deployment of four POSH vessels.

The PFLNG Dua is the second Petronas FLNG unit with an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of LNG and is the world’s first FLNG vessel to operate in deep water.

The first contract sees two POSH 16,300 BHP vessels undertaking a tow of the PFLNG Dua from Geoje, South Korea, where it had been built, to the Rotan Gas Field offshore Sabah, Malaysia, where it will be deployed. An additional third 16,000 BHP vessel will also be escorting the PFLNG Dua en route.

As part of the second offshore services contract, a fourth 16,000 BHP C-class vessel will be deployed to join the convoy, where it will provide station-keeping services for the PFLNG Dua. Both charters are expected to complete in early April. POSH is also overseeing the overall project management for the transportation and station-positioning leg of the project.

The contracts are undertaken by POSH's newly launched Offshore Projects division, comprising a fleet of eight versatile and high-specification vessels including the 21,456 BHP Anchor Handling Tug vessel (AHT) POSH Teal with Dynamic Positioning (DP2) system.

Mr. Eric Ng, Managing Director of Offshore Projects, POSH, said, "POSH is humbled to be supporting this momentous project, which will help address the world’s growing demand for clean-burning fossil fuel. We are confident that our quality fleet, deep experience and excellent track record will enable us to deliver on this highly technical job and many others to come."

Mr. Lee Keng Lin, Chief Executive Officer, POSH, said, "Through our acquisition of POSH Falcon, POSH Hawk and POSH Teal, we are well placed and committed to serving our clients in the ocean towage market. We have complete trust in Eric and his team, who have overseen and delivered many landmark towage and positioning projects for our sector including the Shell Prelude FLNG and Petronas Satu FLNG. The team is well positioned to once again produce the optimal outcomes for PFLNG Dua."

PACC Offshore Services Holdings ("POSH") is one of the largest Asia-based international operators of offshore support vessels, and among the top five globally. It has a diversified fleet capable of marine support services across the offshore oil and gas value chain, including mid- to deep-water rig operations, offshore accommodation, harbour towage, and ocean towage, as well as providing additional value-added services including turnkey solutions for clients.

The Group also supports offshore renewables projects through POSH Kerry Renewables, and offers an integrated suite of subsea services through POSH Subsea.
