Sallaum Lines signs shipbuilding contract for dual-fuel ammonia-ready car carriers
Each ship will have 8,600 CEU capacity and five liftable decks
Sallaum Lines has signed a shipbuilding contract with Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. for two confirmed plus two optional next-generation Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs), marking the largest vessels ever ordered by the company.
The deal was made by Sallaum Lines as part of its ongoing fleet renewal program aimed at increasing capacity and improving fuel efficiency across its global trade routes.
Each vessel will have a capacity of 8,600 Car Equivalent Units (CEU) and measure 199.90 meters in length, 38 meters in beam, and 46 meters in air draught.
The ships will feature five liftable decks to carry passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, and project cargo.
The vessels will be dual-fuel capable, operating on LNG, VLSFO, and MGO, and will be ammonia-ready for future fuel conversion.
The design supports compliance with IMO emissions targets and long-term decarbonisation goals.
Sallaum Lines said the investment supports its plan to expand capacity whilst reducing emissions, targeting significant emissions cuts by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050.
